Alternator regulators and sensitive electronics installed on the mobile equipment can be damaged due to high voltage spikes caused when a battery cable is disconnected on a running engine? Loose cables or turning off a master battery disconnect switch while the engine is running can easily happen on Off-highway, On-Highway and Marine applications. We recently added alternator Over Voltage (OV) protection modules to our product offering. This industrialized OV module protects the alternator and the equipment’s entire electrical system by suppressing the high voltage spikes. OV protection device automatically disconnects battery connection from alternator within 1.25ms when an over voltage of 38.2 volts is detected.
